SPC-0201 Used in Unmanned Substations

Project Overview
The electricity supply is a prerequisite for social production and people’s daily lives. It is a difficult task to maintain the uninterrupted supply of electricity and at the same time to control increased running costs. The solution to distant monitoring of unmanned substations helps the maintenance department to further resolve the problems facing them, including efficient maintenance, centralized administration, and distant monitoring.


As the technology for unmanned substations develops, the automation level has risen significantly and makes the four distant applications workable: distant testing, distant communications, distant control and distant adjustment. The automatic system monitors and records the running status of equipment as well as security issues. A boon to the security and reliability of automatic equipment, it monitors the heating of electricity generation equipment, and can detect and handle accidents in a timely manner. It is capable of providing information for post-accident analysis. Besides, it helps to prevent fire accidents and serve as safeguard against theft. As a result, more and more substations of electricity generating companies are giving priority to switching substations to an unmanned mode.


Catering to the market demand, EVOC launched this high-end communications administration computer SPC-0204 for the unmanned system. This product can be used widely in substations of various voltage grades. With its powerful networking capability and data processing, a rich variety of I/O connectivity, excellent stability and reliability, SPC-0204 fully meets the requirements of customers.  


System Principle
In the solution to monitoring unmanned substations, SPC-0204 usually serves as administration host computers in the communications processing tier, which telecommunicate with and administrates the acquisition and controlling equipment in the lower tier on the one hand, and communicate with the distant control center and undertake the tasks of acquisition, control and distant mechanical applications on the other. Its immediate lower tier is usually called decentralized equipment control tier, or front-end signal acquisition tier, which not only collects analogue, digital and impulse data concerning the security and control of various substations, but also protects and controls various operating equipment and outlets. Communications administration computers gather and process the date from the lower tier, and transmit them via the Ethernet to the upper-tiered monitoring and control host computers, which in turn control the lowest-tiered equipment after proper decision-making via these communication administration computers. Sometimes, it is possible to handle and control in real time some cases concerning data through the communications administration computers.

This system consists of upper-tiered monitoring and control host computers, communication administration computers, Modems, GPS clock setters and acquisition and control units.

System Evaluation

The SPC-0202 box PC fully satisfies the automatic system requirements of telecommunications administration computers. It offers 16 telecoms serial ports and 4 network ports, meeting not only the demand for number of local serial ports and further upgrading, but also the requirement of data collection, control and comprehensive protection of local units by the upper-tiered monitoring computers. The 4 network ports facilitate the communications with the upper-tiered computers and the control of low-tiered data acquisition via the dual networks. The performance indicators of this box PC meet the testing requirements for electric power equipment, such as EMC GB/T14598, GB/T17626 and IEC-60255 class Ⅲ. It has been proved that SPC-0204 fully meets the requirements of upper-tiered telecommunications administration computers.
